Gaming Giant Ubisoft Set to Release First Original blockchain game
Welcome to the world of Blockchain gaming! Ubisoft, the renowned gaming giant, recently announced that it will be launching its first original Blockchain Game, Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles. This exciting tactical PC role-playing game is set to debut on October 23, exclusively on the Oasys Home Verse gaming network.
What is Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles?
In Champions Tactics, players have the opportunity to assemble teams of unique Digital Collectibles known as "Champions." These Champions possess distinct abilities and skills, allowing players to engage in thrilling player-versus-player battles within a dark fantasy setting. The game boasts an impressive roster of 75,000 Champion characters, giving players a wide variety of options to choose from.
One of the standout features of Champions Tactics is its crafting system called The Forge. Here, players can combine existing Champions to create new ones with different traits, adding a layer of strategy and customization to the gameplay Experience.
Ubisoft's Approach to Web3 Technology
Nicolas Pouard, the VP of Ubisoft's Strategic Innovation Lab, highlighted the company's goal with Champions Tactics: to seamlessly integrate Web3 technology into the gaming Experience. The focus is on providing players with a fun and engaging game that allows them to fully immerse themselves in the world of Champions Tactics.
Ubisoft's foray into Blockchain Gaming
Ubisoft has been actively exploring the world of blockchain gaming for some time now. Apart from Champions Tactics, the company has launched Tezos-based NFTs for its Ghost Recon: Breakpoint PC game in 2021. Additionally, Ubisoft announced another upcoming blockchain game called Captain Laserhawk: The G.A.M.E., which will be released on the Ethereum scaling network, Arbitrum.
Ubisoft's Previous NFT Projects
In a past project called The Warlords, Ubisoft minted 75,000 Champion NFTs on Oasys and also introduced 9,999 free Ethereum NFT profile pictures (PFPs) in late 2023. These NFTs are now available on secondary markets, with prices starting at $60 worth of ETH.
Executive Producer Sylvain Loe-Mie emphasized that Ubisoft's focus in blockchain gaming goes beyond GameFi. The company aims to provide players with a pure and immersive gameplay experience, allowing them to own their in-game assets and influence the game's future.
